DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks School District plans to develop an educational foundation to fundraise and connect with the community, according to a news release.
This foundation’s goal will be “to enhance the educational experience of Central Bucks students through support from the community, businesses and alumni, and will also include the establishment of an alumni association,” the district said.
The educational foundation would be its own nonprofit and operate outside of the district-approved budget, according to the news release
The district is looking for volunteers to serve on the first board of directors for the Central Bucks School District Educational Foundation. Interested people should contact Angela Linch, the district’s director of communications and community relations, at alinch@cbsd.org. Business and community leaders are encouraged to consider serving on the board.
The foundation will represent the district’s 23 schools and more than 17,000 students.
“Like similar organizations in neighboring school districts, the district’s foundation will support the goals of the district with both entities working cooperatively to create and sustain valuable educational programs, inventive and groundbreaking ideas that enrich classroom instruction, extra-curricular and co-curricular programs, facilities, and more,” the district said. “Fundraising will include a mix of grassroots efforts and long-range capital campaigns.”
Dr. Abram M. Lucabaugh, the district superintendent, highlighted the importance of alumni connection in a written statement.
“The primary focus of this work is to provide increased access, opportunity and choice through supplemental funding for educational programs and initiatives that enrich students’ experiences across the district,” Lucabaugh began.
“The Central Bucks community has always been an ally for our schools and students; the creation of an alumni association will not only promote the reunification of our community, but also develop a system of support that comes in many forms,” he said. “We believe the establishment of an education foundation will provide our students with a premier educational experience that creates a foundation for future success.
“Central Bucks graduates have gone on to excel in a multitude of careers and professional endeavors,” Lucabaugh continued. “The success of our graduates is a point of pride, and we are excited to collaborate in a manner that will engage families, community leaders and alumni, enabling students to benefit from the considerable expertise and opportunity that exists in Central Bucks, locally and beyond,”
