The Central Bucks School District plans to form its own nonprofit foundation and alumni association that officials say will help “enhance” the educational experience of its 17,500 students.
An email from district spokeswoman Angela Linch to this news organization Wednesday added that the nonprofit will help fund “initiatives, programs and activities not funded by the district’s operating budget” through community partnerships and “large-scale grant” opportunities.
“We want our students to enter their post-graduate life armed with the skills and experiences they deserve to live a fulfilling and impactful life. The opportunities that a well-funded educational foundation can provide are immeasurable, and we are excited at the prospect of how this endeavor can enhance our students’ experiences in Central Bucks,” Linch added.
While there is already a nonprofit educational foundation, CB Cares, that has been working toward similar goals since 1996, Superintendent Abram Lucabaugh added in the the district’s email that the decision to form its own foundation was largely because CB Cares “was not founded with the purpose of being a large-scale grant funding organization.”
